Why not just use the Sharpe Ratio of returns? Or a derivative that replaces "Risk Free Rate" with CPI and possible even invert equation so that the higher the Ratio the greater the risk return accordingly?
Therefore:
{Return Volatility} / (Return - CPI)
May be call it the "Smartreturn Ratio"
